Tony Adams believes Niko Kranjcar can achieve all of his ambitions at Portsmouth, amid reports the Croatian is being tracked by some of Europe's biggest clubs.

The talented schemer enjoyed an excellent campaign at Fratton Park last term and heads into Euro 2008 tipped to be one of the tournament's stars.

Such form has not gone unnoticed elsewhere but while Adams accepts interest could well be lodged over the summer, he sees no reason why Kranjcar would want to leave the South Coast.

"Niko's shone. He's got goals for Portsmouth, he's got goals for his country. He's been my player of the season," Adams told The News.

"He's a quality player doing well. We finished in the top half of the table, we won the FA Cup. He's playing well for his country - it's inevitable to be linked to other clubs.

"It should be a complement to how he's doing at Portsmouth.

"This is a stage and there is no reason to leave it."

Kanu boost

While Adams is confident Kranjcar will stay at Portsmouth, chief executive Peter Storrie has delivered further good news with regards Kanu's future.

The Nigerian has yet to put pen-to-paper on a new one-year deal but Storrie is of the belief he will do so once he returns from international duty.

"As far as I am aware, there are no problems with the contract and Kanu will sign it as expected.

"At the moment he is away with Nigeria. I expect he will sign it when he comes back here for pre-season training.

"Considering his international schedule, I would not think it will happen before then. But that is not a problem, we understand."
