Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele is keen to stay at Stamford Bridge, according to the latest reports in the French press.

The veteran had been linked with Paris St Germain and talks were believed to have begun between the parties.

But the latest speculation suggests the France international, who is currently on duty at Euro 2008, is keen to stay at Stamford Bridge, where he has one year left on his contract.

But nothing is certain until Avram Grant's successor is announced and if the next Chelsea boss does not want Makelele, he could then be tempted to return to play in France.
