Internazionale manager Jose Mourinho looks to have edged ahead of former club Chelsea in the battle to sign Samuel Eto'o.

The Barcelona striker is expected to leave the Camp Nou this summer as new manager Pep Guardiola makes his mark on his inherited squad.

Chelsea, Inter and Tottenham have all been linked with summer bids for Eto'o, despite the Cameroon international insisting he is happy in Spain.

Spurs assistant boss Gus Poyet recently stated the club held no interest in Eto'o, while the striker has reflected on the recent link with the Carling Cup winners.

No pressure

"Tottenham, and I hope the English fans will forgive me, are a club in mid-table and I need more," Eto'o told CRTV.

"I insist that I have a contract with Barcelona until 2010 and I feel great at the club.

"I cannot exclude the option of Inter, but I want to repeat that I still feel I am a Barcelona player and that I feel under no pressure."

Mourinho tried to sign Eto'o while in charge at Chelsea and the Barca No.9 has since admitted he held talks with the former Stamford Bridge boss.

However, Mourinho will now feel he has the advantage over the Blues in the new race to sign Eto'o.
