Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has expressed his interest in signing Barcelona's Eidur Gudjohnsen, while revealing that talks over a deal for Liverpool's Peter Crouch are progressing.

Gudjohnsen, who signed for Barca in 2006 from Chelsea, is expected to leave Camp Nou this summer following the arrival of new manager Josep Guardiola.

Redknapp is keen to bolster his front-line as he looks to build on last season's eighth-place finish and FA Cup triumph.

And the Pompey boss has admitted that he is monitoring Gudjohnsen's progress, with a view to bringing the versatile forward to Fratton Park this summer.

"Eidur is a good player, a proper player, and it does look like he'll be leaving Barcelona," Redknapp told the Daily Star.

"If that's the case he would definitely be the type of player we are interested in.

"He is someone I know and is good friends with my son Jamie."

Crouch

Redknapp also revealed that discussions over a transfer for Crouch are ongoing, but reiterated Portsmouth's stance on not being prepared to pay over the odds for the England international.

"We're moving along and something could happen soon," Redknapp added.

"We might feel Liverpool want a little too much, even at £10million. There might be a deal - if not we'll move on."
