Jermaine Jenas feels the 2007/08 season was his best in a Tottenham shirt.

The midfielder is not about to rest on his laurels, though, and has targeted further improvement next term.

The England international was still relatively raw on his arrival at White Hart Lane in 2005, but has matured into one of the finest exponents of the attacking midfield role in the country.

Rarely injured and full of energy, it has not taken Jenas long to win the hearts of the Spurs faithful.

He featured in 45 of the club's 57 fixtures during the last campaign, with his finest hour coming in the 5-1 Carling Cup semi-final victory over arch-rivals Arsenal.

The 25-year-old admits that securing his first piece of silverware following a Wembley success over Chelsea in the same competition was the highlight of his season, but is desperate to see the club make an impact in the Premier League after a disappointing bottom-half finish this time around.

Consistency

"I thoroughly enjoyed the season," Jenas told Spurs' official website.

"It was my best here so far, definitely.

"There were lots of positives in terms of our first cup win but we didn't finish where we wanted to in the league.

"It's important to change that. We need to find consistency, especially looking at when we went ahead in a number of games towards the end of the season but ended up drawing, we need to have that killer instinct about us and if we can change that, then we'll be fine.

"On a personal note, yes, I think I had a good season and I want more of the same, to keep playing well for Tottenham. I want to improve and become an even better player here."
