Fernando Torres is hoping to win Euro 2008 with Spain before turning his focus to Liverpool and the hunt for more silverware.

Torres is set to line up against Germany in Vienna on Sunday and he is looking to finish a fantastic individual season on a high.

He is also excited about the new campaign at Anfield and believes he can help the Reds challenge for more honours.

"My aim now is to help Spain become European champions and then I intend to help Liverpool win more trophies," Torres told the Daily Star Sunday.

Torres feels he owes a lot to Liverpool for his improvement over the last 12 months and has paid tribute to manager Rafa Benitez for allowing him to settle in quickly.

Great reputation

"It helped me when I arrived in England that the manager knew me already and has always had confidence in my ability," he said.

"He has a great reputation in Spain and as soon as I heard that he was interested in signing me, I had no doubt I would come to Liverpool.

"I've been well looked after, which has allowed me to concentrate on just scoring goals for Liverpool.

"This is all down to the people at the club and the setup there. I have to thank everyone."

Impact

Torres admits he did not expect to have such immediate success in England after netting 33 goals in his debut season.

He explained: "I came to England thinking it might take a year or so to adapt to the new style of play before getting anywhere near my best form.

"But I really wanted to make an impact. I said that one of my main targets was to increase my average goals-per-season ratio and I have done that.

"The style of play in the Premier League suits me and it is how I like to play the game."
