Torsten Frings has urged unsettled Bayern Munich forward Lukas Podolski to join him at Werder Bremen.

Podolski's future at the Allianz Arena is in doubt following a frustrating bit-part role since his transfer from Cologne in 2006.

The 23-year-old is expected to soon hold talks with new Bayern manager Jurgen Klinsmann now Euro 2008 has concluded.

But Frings, who played alongside Podolski at Austria and Switzerland, believes a move to Weserstadion would ensure he recaptures his love for the domestic game.

"Of course we have spoken about that matter, but it is really up to Lukas," Frings told Kicker.

"I am certain that Lukas would return to having fun playing football - just like he does in the national team. This is something that he has lost at Bayern.

"In Bremen he could play at the very highest level and still live without the whole hubbub."
