Hasselbaink: Shocked and disappointed

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says he is 'very shocked' by the current situation at Cardiff City.

Reports have suggested that the veteran Dutch striker was turned away by the club when he arrived to undergo fitness tests on Tuesday.

Hasselbaink is understood to be in dispute with Cardiff with regards to whether he is entitled to a contract for next season.

He moved to Ninian Park last summer from Charlton Athletic and scored nine goals in 44 appearances in all competitions.

His one-year contract contained a clause which would trigger an extension, if he played in a specified number of games - a target he acheived.

Disappointed

However, reports claim that Hasselbaink and the Championship club verbally agreed to waive the clause, leading to the current stand-off.

"I'm very shocked and disappointed at the current situation," said Hasselbaink in a statement to Sky Sports News.

"Following discussions with my legal team, I'm unable to comment further at this time."
