Liverpool teenager Emiliano Insua has signed a new three-year contract at Anfield.

The full-back has been rewarded by Reds manager Rafa Benitez for his progress during the past 18 months.

Insua originally joined Liverpool from Boca Juniors in January 2007 and he made his first-team debut against Portsmouth in March the same year.

He was a key member of the club's reserve team last season as the second string won the league title.

The 19-year-old also featured in Liverpool's closing three Premier League matches and will now look to break into Benitez's plans on a more regular basis.
