Round: Happy with Everton move

Everton have appointed Steve Round as their new assistant manager.

The Toffees have been searching for a new number two for David Moyes since Alan Irvine left to take charge at Preston last November.

Round had been employed as first team coach at Newcastle and the North East club had blocked Everton's previous attempts to bring in Round.

However, following lengthy negotiations Everton have now struck a deal for Round.

"Once David asked me, and I met him, it was a definite," the 37-year-old, who also worked with Steve McClaren in the England setup, told Everton TV.

"He sold me the club; he sold me the ideas; he sold me how he was moving it forward and how he wanted to take the next step.

"I said I would definitely come and here we are."
