Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani claims Ronaldinho has rejected a move to Manchester City, and says it is 'useless' meeting Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to discuss Emmanuel Adebayor.
Ronaldinho is likely to leave Barcelona over the summer after new coach Pep Guardiola admitted he can plan without the Brazilian for next season.
City have already made an offer for the playmaker, but Ronaldinho's agent and brother has said a move to Milan is '90 per cent likely'.
Talks are ongoing, but Galliani concedes the 28-year-old's salary is an issue after Ronaldinho turned down a lucrative transfer to City.
"As for Ronaldinho, he's not in Guardiola's plans, so he has a different price," Galliani told La Stampa.
"But the problem is the salary - to pay him his salary it would mean his arrival would not cost much. A loan? It depends on Barcelona.
"Ronaldinho rejected Man City's offer, who were ready to give him double what we had offered."
Milan are also keen to sign Adebayor from Arsenal, and are battling with Barcelona for the Togo striker.
Galliani feels the Italian club would struggle to compete with Barcelona on a financial basis and retains his belief that Gunners boss Wenger is demanding too much for Adebayor.
He added: "Adebayor has Milan in his mind, but if I have been beaten by Barcelona it is not because I'm a fool.
"It's difficult to compete with those who have higher earnings and the best tax system.
"Wenger fixed a meeting in Nice, but it's useless that I go. He told me he wants 45million euros (£35.6million) - an impossible sum."
