Peter Reid is hopeful he will sign a contract to become the new manager of Thailand by the end of next week after failing to secure a job in England.

Contrary to reports, the former Coventry, Leeds and Sunderland boss has yet to put pen-to-paper, but his agent is to hold discussions with the Thai Football Association over a four-year deal.

Reid has been out of management since leaving the Sky Blues in 2005 and he admits his target was to secure a club in England and that he received 'some interest'.

But he is now turning his attentions to international football after a return to the domestic scene was not available.

"My agent is going over there (Thailand) at the end of next week and hopefully he will finalise things," Reid told Sky Sports News.

"I can't get a job in England. There has been some interest, but I haven't been able to get one.

"I haven't got a bad record, but nothing has happened so it looks like I am going to have to go to new pastures."

The former England midfielder has revealed he also received an offer from Iran, but he is looking forward to the challenge of attempting to guide Thailand to the 2014 World Cup.

"I have had a couple of opportunities in international football," Reid added. "Iran offered me a job which I didn't take for personal reasons.

"But international football is something that does interest me and hopefully I can get them (Thailand) to the next World Cup."
