Jewell: Rebuilding side
The summer flurry of transfer activity at Derby is set to continue with another six players heading for the chop.
Boss Paul Jewell is performing major surgery at Pride Park as he bids to take the club back into the Premier League at the first attempt.
He has already brought nine players in to the club and wants two more, one of whom is Swansea midfielder Ferrie Bodde.
In turn he has shipped out Robert Earnshaw, Kenny Miller, David Jones, Craig Fagan and Darren Moore.
And at least six more players could be moved on to maintain the right balance in the squad.
Derby chairman Adam Pearson told the Evening Telegraph: "It is no secret we are still chasing a centre-forward and a central midfield player.
"I think, once we have acquired those two, we will take a break and concentrate on moving some out because we would like to start the season with about 24 senior professionals, which would tend to indicate that, possibly, as many as six could go out.
"The number of players in the squad is important, not just from the financial side but also for the manager that he has the right number of players. And 30 senior pros is obviously far too many.
"We wanted to have the new players in place early to get them bedded in. Now the hard work starts on trying to move six or seven out to make the balance of the squad right."
