Middlesbrough new boys Marvin Emnes and Didier Digard have spoken of their desire to do well in the Premier League.

The pair revealed their determination to make an impact as they were unveiled by Boro boss Gareth Southgate on Wednesday.

Boro paid about £7.2million for former Paris St Germain player Digard and his Sparta Rotterdam counterpart, who have both signed four-year contracts.

And Dutch striker Marvin Emnes, 20, hopes he can repay that faith with sparkling performances.

Do best

Speaking through an interpreter, he told Sky Sports: "I just want to do my best as possible - if I wouldn't have thought that way I could have just rather stayed in Holland.

"I came here to give everything I have and to do my best and to proceed and to do as good as all the other players have done here."

His sentiments were echoed by French midfielder Digard, 21, who was suspended by PSG last week after venting his frustration at the delay in his move.

He comes to England raring to go after an injury-interrupted year in Paris.

No regrets

He said: "I had a tough year at Paris St Germain, but I don't regret anything that happened.

"The most important thing for me is to concentrate on the task I have to do here and go all the way.

"I have always wanted to follow in the footsteps of players such as Patrick Vieira and Claude Makelele.

"If I really give 100 per cent of myself, I will be able to follow their style of play and also improve myself as a player."
