Trezeguet: Domenech blast

Juventus striker David Trezeguet has questioned France head coach Raymond Domenech's coaching ability.

Trezeguet announced his retirement from international football on Wednesday, citing the French Football Federation's decision to keep faith with Domenech.

France endured a disastrous Euro 2008 after they failed to progress to the knock-out stages.

The country's performance led to rumours that Domenech was set to be axed as manager.

However, Domenech received the FFF's backing that he would lead Les Bleus to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Consequences

Trezeguet, though, has been left bewildered by the decision, and has questioned Domenech's ability to manage the former World Champions.

"We are all conscious of the fact that Domenech is not at the level to be in charge of the France team," Trezeguet told L'Equipe. "But no one carries out the consequences.

"We don't take into account the opinion of millions of people in France and old footballers, and I'm not talking about those of 1998.

"Michel Platini supported Domenech because he doesn't get on well with Didier (Deschamps - who was favourite to replace him).

"But it's the sporting side that counts."
