Lampard: Inter target

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech admits it is 'extremely important' that the club hold on to Inter Milan target Frank Lampard.

Inter recently had an £8million bid for England international Lampard - who has 12 months remaining on his current deal - rejected.

The Blues are determined to keep hold of the 30-year-old for the new season despite the possibility that he could leave on a free transfer next summer.

Lampard has netted an impressive 71 Premier League goals in 247 appearances since joining Chelsea from West Ham, and shot-stopper Cech feels the club are well-placed to retain the player's services.

Protection

"To be honest, I don't have much information about changes in the squad," Cech told Sport.cz.

"Of course, I know about coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, Deco and I know that Chelsea have succeeded in keeping Frank Lampard, which is extremely important."

Cech went on to reveal that he has recovered from the facial injury he sustained in April and will play without a protective chin strap next term.

"The scar is healed up so I will put the chin strap aside. But I will wear the head-gear for the next two years for sure," he concluded.
