Mifsud: Seeking new challenge

Coventry appear resigned to losing Michael Mifsud this summer after the striker revealed he would be handing in a transfer request.

The Malta international was the Sky Blues' top scorer last season, bagging 17 goals in all competitions.

However, with Championship rivals Bristol City, Norwich and Crystal Palace all expressing an interest in the 27-year-old it appears unlikely that he will be lighting up the Ricoh Arena next term.

With only one year left to run on his current deal Coventry boss Chris Coleman reluctantly accepts that the club may be forced to sell the forward in order to avoid losing him on a free next year.

Agreed

"I've spoken with Michael this week and he has agreed with his agent that it's time to move on," Coleman told the Coventry Telegraph.

"He's said he will hand a transfer request in and there's nothing we can do about that.

"We have to move on ourselves and if a club comes in and offers the right amount of money then we'll have to look at it."
