Mifsud: Transfer request

Coventry have accepted a bid for Michael Mifsud from Championship rivals Bristol City.

The Malta international recently handed in a transfer request and, with one year left on his current deal at the Ricoh Arena, the Sky Blues have been forced to accept that they must part with their top scorer from last season.

The diminutive forward scored 17 goals in all competitions during the 2007/08 campaign, bringing him to the attention of a host of clubs.

He has decided that the time is right to take on a new challenge away from Coventry, with Ashton Gate now a possible destination.

Permission

No details have been released regarding the financial details of the bid, but the Sky Blues' chairman Ray Ranson has revealed that the offer meets the club's asking price for the 27-year-old.

"Michael has indicated to the manager that he is not happy at the club and is in the process of handing in a written transfer request, so we have to accept that he will move on," Ranson told the club's official website.

"Bristol City have come in with an offer that we believe is acceptable for a striker who scored 17 goals last season and we have given them permission to speak to Michael and his representatives."
