Pressley: Too slow for O'Driscoll
Former Scotland international Steven Pressley has failed to earn a contract at Doncaster.
The experienced defender joined Rovers on a trial basis this summer, but made just one appearance during the club's pre-season campaign.
As a result, manager Sean O'Driscoll has decided to look elsewhere for new recruits.
"We are looking for someone younger and quicker and Steve admits himself he's a bit rusty and needs to work on his fitness," the Rovers boss told the Doncaster Free Press.
"But he is a player with a tremendous attitude and we agreed to keep in touch if the situation changes."
Meanwhile, Doncaster have been boosted by the news that Richie Wellens has penned a new three-year contract.
The midfielder played a key role in the club's successful promotion campaign last season and will once again be expected to provide a creative influence in the Championship next term.
The 28-year-old will now remain at the Keepmoat Stadium until 2011 and has expressed his delight at agreeing a new deal.
"It's a good club. It's a club that's going places and I was more than happy to sign on an extra two years to my current deal," he said.
"The way we play football is one of the main reasons I wanted to stay.
"The manager is great in getting us to play the way he wants to play, he understands players very well. I'm more than happy here."
Doncaster chairman John Ryan added: "Richie is one of our pivotal players. He's a highly-prized player and the fact that he has committed himself to us for three years shows Richie's confidence that we can do well."
