Guardiola: Rates duo

Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has refused to confirm whether the club have lodged bids for strikers Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Adebayor.

Guardiola, who replaced Frank Rijkaard at the helm at the end of last season, is keen to bolster his front line ahead of the new campaign.

Chelsea's Drogba and Arsenal's Adebayor have both been mooted as potential targets, however neither Premier League club appear keen to sell.

Speaking after Barca's 6-0 friendly match demolition of Hibernian, Guardiola hinted at interest in the pair, but failed to confirm if offers have been proposed.

"Barcelona are always interested in good players," Guardiola said in The Guardian when asked directly about the duo.

"Those players are interesting but so are many others in England, Italy and Germany.

Asked whether he was preparing to make bids, Guardiola replied: "You would be better to speak to the sporting director [Txiki Begiristain] about the exact situation."
