Carlo Ancelotti has labelled Mathieu Flamini a 'complete player' after the Frenchman made his AC Milan bow.

Flamini completed his protracted move to Serie A from Arsenal in May, joining the Rossoneri on a free transfer.

The combative midfielder made his debut on Wednesday as the Serie A giants drew 0-0 in a pre-season friendly against Cremonese.

Head coach Ancelotti was delighted with the 24-year-old's first appearance in a Milan shirt, and is confident he will add much to the team in the new season.

"Flamini is a complete player. He can be useful to us in defence and in attack," said Ancelotti.

"He makes few mistakes and for those who don't know him he is a positive prospect. But for those of us who already know him he represents a certainty."

Flamini added: "Everything went well. I had no problems on the pitch and I am happy.

"This was my first game with Milan and I hope it will be the first of many."
