Fulop: Set for Stoke talks
Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop is on the verge of completing his move to Stoke City after a transfer fee was agreed between the two clubs.
The Hungarian has struggled for regular first-team football since arriving at the Stadium of Light from Tottenham Hotspur in 2007.
Fulop was briefly sent out on loan to Stoke last season, but was recalled without playing as Black Cats manager Roy Keane required cover.
But now the 25-year-old is nearing a permanent switch to the Premier League new boys with contract talks to be held on Monday after a fee believed to be in the region of £3million was agreed.
"I'm happy that the two clubs could agree about me," Fulop exclusively told skysports.com.
"I still have not signed a contract but I think everything is positive, we will have further talks on Monday. As far as I know Stoke come back tonight (Saturday) from their Austrian training camp.
"Roy Keane let me know on Wednesday before the game against Setubal that Sunderland have agreed with Stoke.
"Finally we can start talking about the details. I hope everything will go smoothly.
"Until I put pen-to-paper I don't want to talk more about my place in the Stoke squad - but after I signed I'll tell [you] more."
Keane added on the Sunderland's official website: "It looks like he will be leaving in the next day or two, there could be a deal on with Stoke.
"Marton has been fantastic since he's been at the club, he's a very good professional but he has been frustrated with Craig [Gordon] in there."
"We had a good offer for Marton and he'd made it clear to me on a number of occasions that he wanted to go and get some games, I have to respect that.
"If a player wants to leave, and we get the right offer, I will rarely stand in his way. We wish Marton well."
