David Villa's agent has encouraged Tottenham Hotspur to lodge a bid for the Valencia striker.

Villa has been linked with a move away from the Mestalla after the club's disappointing performance last term and the forward's impressive showing at Euro 2008.

Liverpool had been linked with an offer for his services, but Reds manager Rafa Benitez has since revealed he has turned his attention towards Spurs' Robbie Keane.

Reports have claimed Keane is nearing a transfer to Anfield in a switch which could see Tottenham boss Juande Ramos look for a replacement.

Primera Division champions Real Madrid have been mooted as front runners to land Villa for £31.5million, however the Spain international's agent has suggested Valencia would look favourably on a proposal from Spurs.

"Many clubs have contacted me about the chances of a player who is guaranteed to score goals in England," Jose Luis Tamargo said in The Guardian.

"But I am convinced if Spurs present an offer, Valencia will study the subject."

He added: "David likes London and likes how Tottenham play with Juande Ramos [the manager]. This is a club that excites him."
