New Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is refusing to get involved in managerial mind games - and is instead focusing on creating history with the Blues.

Sir Alex Ferguson has already upped the psychological ante by questioning the age of the Chelsea squad, before claiming he was misquoted.

But the experienced Scolari says attempts to wind him up will not work - as he will pretend he does not understand.

He said: "I am not going to fight against any other managers or call anyone names.

Psychological weapons

"I know they will try to use psychological weapons against me. I know they will try to wind me up but it won't work. They are wasting their time because I don't want to work this way.

"For one thing, I don't speak English that well. If people try to say things about me or Chelsea and want a response, then I will just pretend my English is not good enough.

"If I was in Brazil it might be different because it is my country and my language, but in England I need to learn and to know what it is like over the next six or seven months. And if I need to change, I will.

"Hopefully I can do things my way, though."

Meanwhile, the World Cup winning manager has revealed he wants to create history with Chelsea as his illustrious coaching career draws to an end.

Minimum

He said: "Chelsea need to win one or two competitions a year minimum. It is my dream, it is the dream of the fans, the board, for everyone at Chelsea and we work towards this.

"For me, if I lose, I lose a big chance in my life and I know that. I am a coach for only five or six more years maximum and I have two years at Chelsea.

"This is fantastic for me. I could be the first coach to win the Brazilian and Premier League. The first coach to win the Brazilian league and UEFA Champions league. But it's not just about me making history. I want to make history for Chelsea.

"When I arrived at Chelsea I spoke to my players and said I want to win every competition. For me the Carling Cup, FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League are all important."
