Hart: Sure of keeping place

Manchester City's Joe Hart is confident of being manager Mark Hughes' first-choice goalkeeper in the new season.

England international Hart emerged as former City boss Sven Goran Eriksson's No.1 shot-stopper last term, recording 26 Premier League starts.

However, Hughes is reportedly in the market for an experienced keeper, with Hart and Kasper Schmeichel, both 21, currently his only two options.

Hart admits Hughes is right to look into adding competition, but is sure he will keep his place in the starting XI this term.

"Most Premier League clubs have that strength in depth and we definitely need another goalkeeper," he said in the Daily Express.

"But whoever they bring in, I'd back myself as No.1 choice at Manchester City."
