New Stoke goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen believes he has unfinished business in the Premier League.

The Denmark international was released by Aston Villa in the summer as he did not figure in Martin O'Neill's first-team plans.

Sorensen has been signed on a three-year deal by Potters boss Tony Pulis and is eager to help the club upset the odds and avoid an immediate return to the Football League.

Ambition

He told the club's official website: "It's a great move for me because I have come to a club which has great ambition.

"I am very happy to be here and I am extremely grateful to the manager for giving me a chance to play in the Premier League again.

"I really enjoyed being here for the last two days and I love everything I saw from the manager and the club, and had no hesitation in signing.

"I have played in this division for a long time, but I still feel I have something to prove and that is why I am here."

Memories

Stoke's first home game of the new Premier League season is against Sorensen's former club, and he is relishing the opportunity to face O'Neill's men.

He added: "It's not about one game because we have 38 games to play next season, but I have to admit a win against Aston Villa would be a very good moment for me.

"I have fond memories of my time with the club and I am looking forward to coming up against them. But there are a lot of matches to be played and I truly believe we will stay up."
