Nugent: Ipswich target

Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton has revealed he plans to reignite his interest in bringing Portsmouth striker David Nugent to Portman Road.

Nugent joined Pompey last summer from Preston North End, but struggled for regular first-team football during his debut campaign in the Premier League.

Championship club Ipswich pulled out of a deal to sign Nugent on loan back in March, but could now be set to renew their pursuit of the one-time England international.

Magilton said: "We tried to get him in but it didn't happen and we moved on but I would like to go back in for him because I know he can live at this level and we know he enjoys scoring at Portman Road.

"He is someone I know could take us to where we want to go."
