David Bentley has spoken of his delight at getting on the scoresheet on his debut for Tottenham Hotspur.

The England midfielder completed his move from Blackburn Rovers to White Hart Lane on Wednesday, arriving for an initial £15million fee.

Bentley made his Spurs bow on Friday against Celtic and was on target to seal a 2-0 pre-season friendly victory.

The 23-year-old has admitted he 'loved every minute' of his debut and is determined to continue his impressive start to his Tottenham career.

"I've come here with a big price tag and I just wanted to get off to a good start and hit the ground running to be honest," Bentley told Sky Sports News.

Bent prediction

"I haven't been playing many games so it was tough getting back into the swing of things but I was delighted to get a goal. I loved every minute of it."

Meanwhile, striker Darren Bent, who opened the scoring against Celtic to take his goalscoring record to eight in three matches, is sure Spurs are destined for a successful 2008/09 campaign.

"We've signed a lot of good players this summer so it's going to be a good season," Bent said.

"Everyone is gelling well. We've been tracking Bents (Bentley) for some time and now we've got him he's only going to help the team if he produces chances and scores like he has done today."
