Nugent: Going nowhere

David Nugent has played down talk linking him with a move away from Portsmouth, saying he wants to stay at Fratton Park.

The 23-year-old's future at Pompey has been the subject of speculation all summer after he failed to establish himself as a regular in Harry Redknapp's plans last season.

Ipswich are keen on signing the former Preston hit-man, while Premier League new boys Hull and Stoke have also been credited with holding an interest in Nugent.

Nugent has ruled out a move to Ipswich, revealing he wants to prove he can hold his own in the Premier League.

"I want to stay and prove I can cut it in the Premier League," Nugent told The Sun.
