Doncaster look unlikely to complete a deal for Bristol City defender Richard Keogh.

The 21-year-old, who spent time on loan at Carlisle and Cheltenham last season, had featured alongside fellow trialist Dao Issoumalia in Rovers' 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Bolton on Friday.

However, the recent arrival of central defensive duo Jos van Nieuwstadt and Matthew Mills appears to have scuppered any hopes Keogh had of securing a permanent contract at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Meanwhile, Toulouse defender Issoumali remains a possibility for manager Sean O'Driscoll.

Remit

"We've signed Matt and Jos so our need for a centre-half is obviously less than it was a week ago," said O'Driscoll.

"Richard would cost a fee, so that will be out of our remit now.

"Dao is one that catches people's eye. He doesn't speak good English and gets caught up in certain things.

"He would add something to the squad, but whether we take it any further, we'll have to wait and see."
