Wright: Deadline set

Darlington boss Dave Penney has set a deadline for Tommy Wright's proposed move to Aberdeen to be completed.

The Scottish Premier League side have agreed a reported £100,000 fee for the striker, who top scored for the Quakers last season.

But the deal has been held up with Wright still struggling with the knee injury he sustained in the first leg of Darlo's League Two play-off semi-final defeat to Rochdale.

Penney has been unable to bring in a replacement as he needs the cash from Wright's planned exit, and has now warned that the transfer could be called off.

Away

He told the club's official website: "The situation regarding Tommy Wright is still up in the air. I think it could be possibly 50-50 at the moment.

"Aberdeen have not pushed the deal ahead as they've been away in Holland so if the deal doesn't get done by the end of the week then we'll knock it on the head.

"I can't go out and sign anybody until Tommy's wages are freed up. I can only get a player in if Tommy leaves. If he doesn't leave then great."
