Bournemouth are to be deducted 17 points for the start of the League Two season.

The Football League has confirmed that the Cherries have been handed the points penalty after failing to exit administration via the necessary Company Voluntary Agreement and for being declared insolvent for the second time in as many years.

The club must provide a legal waiver indicating they will not challenge or

appeal the League's decision and pay unsecured creditors the amount offered at the time of the CVA hearing.

They must agree to the conditions and sign a formal agreement by midday on Friday.

Bournemouth would then be given the go-ahead to kick off their campaign against Gillingham on Saturday.

League Two rivals Rotherham were also docked 17 points on Wednesday, while Luton will start the season 30 points in arrears.
