Betsy: On the move

Kevin Betsy has left Bristol City after agreeing to join Southend for a nominal fee.

The 30-year-old winger has signed a two-year contract at Roots Hall after being told he was free to leave Championship side Bristol City earlier this week.

Shrimpers boss Steve Tilson beat Swindon and Cheltenham to Betsy's signature after both clubs expressed an interest in signing the player.

Promotion bid

"I have been lucky enough to have been promoted twice from this division with Bristol City and Fulham and I think this team can play in the Championship," Betsy told the club's official website.

"Consistency is the key ingredient if you want to get promoted, if you have a few special players that can unlock defences then you have a chance.

"If you can win three on a bounce then you fly up the league, the management have the experience to be successful and I sure we will be."
