Nugent: Wanted by Ipswich

Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton has confirmed making an enquiry for Portsmouth striker David Nugent.

The England cap has been linked with a move to Portman Road after struggling during his debut season in the Premier League.

Nugent has said he wants to stay at Fratton Park, but Magilton is waiting to see if he can make progress with his interest in the forward.

"David Nugent is someone who relishes playing at Portman Road and it'd be nice to see him in a blue shirt," Magilton told Sky Sports News.

"Until that happens he's just one player we've asked about. If it did happen, it'd be great, if not, we move on to another."

Campo coup

Magilton has agreed a deal for Ivan Campo and is delighted to be adding the veteran Spanish midfielder to his squad.

He added: "We're delighted with Ivan and we're hoping he's going to be the player I expect him to be.

"The one thing with Ivan is he's got the enthusiasm and appetite to still be a top player, which is remarkable given his CV.

"It's a big coup for the club."
