Evra: Treble aim

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra is not resting on his laurels and has set his sights on winning the Treble this season.

The French left-back played a big part in bringing the Premier League and UEFA Champions League Double back to Old Trafford last term.

But he wants the team to go one better this season and repeat the heroics of the side which pulled off the historic Treble back in 1999.

Evra, who signed a new four-year deal this summer, told the Daily Star: "Every year the target here is to win the Treble. Last season we didn't do it.

Very disappointed

"I remember feeling very disappointed when we lost in the FA Cup to Portsmouth - especially as we missed a lot of chances to win the game - and therefore the Treble.

"The team is the same. Everybody has stayed. The manager and the players are very hungry to win trophies again.

"The team is young. We just need to keep working hard and to keep going."

But Evra believes the team will face a tough task in achieving their aims, saying: "This season is going to be very, very difficult because last season we won two major trophies.

"When you play for Manchester United, you know you need to have another season like the last one.

Win

"When you play for United, you need to win every game. But it is going to be more difficult than ever to win the trophies again."

Winning European glory in Moscow last term meant more to Evra than most because the French star was a beaten Champions League finalist with Monaco back in 2004.

He said: "I was joking with the manager and my team-mates because I said: 'If I lose in the final again, I won't play any more in the Champions League because it would be too painful'.

"This is why I was very happy to win in Moscow. To lose two finals would be very hard."
