Johnson: No new deal

Manchester City star Michael Johnson has rejected the new contract he has been offered, skysports.com understands.

The England Under-21 star has three years left on his current deal but he is now a hugely important part of City's squad.

City offered the midfielder a new five-year deal - a story revealed byskysports.com - to reward him for his progress.

But Johnson has shunned the offer, which is sure to alert a number of clubs who have already shown an interest in the player.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton are all thought to hold a strong interest in the 20-year-old and could be tempted to launch a bid.

Despite rejecting the deal, it is understood that talks are continuing between City and Johnson's representatives.
