Ronaldo: Rooney looks happy

Patrice Evra insists Cristiano Ronaldo has been warmly welcomed back to Old Trafford by the Manchester United squad.

The Portugal international has pledged to stay with the Red Devils for at least one more season after a summer-long saga where he was publicly courted by Real Madrid.

Ronaldo, who will be sidelined until October after ankle surgery following Euro 2008, did little to quell the speculation with a selection of cryptic statements.

But France full-back Evra claims that the Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners are happy for their star man to be back in their ranks.

Trouble

Evra told L'Equipe: "I have always believed he would stay.

"I had a few phone calls with him and then he sent me a text message to tell me he will finally stay.

"The media made more of the story, but now the matter is closed.

"Will that cause any trouble inside the group? No. When he came back the squad all welcomed him.

"I am sure he will have another great season."
