Thomas: Portsmouth link

Alan Pardew has hinted Jerome Thomas could leave Charlton Athletic after the winger was linked with a move to Portsmouth.

Pompey boss Harry Redknapp tried to sign Thomas in January, but ran out of time before the closure of the transfer window.

Reports have suggested that Redknapp is looking to take Thomas to Fratton Park on a season-long loan and Pardew admits the 25-year-old could be moved on.

"There are some players here whose salaries are high and we will find it difficult to keep hold of them," the Charlton boss told the club's official website.

"Jerome could be in that category."

Developing

Pardew has shown an interest in Portsmouth duo Marc Wilson and Martin Cranie, but doubts he will bring the youngsters to The Valley.

He added: "Marc is a player I looked at and I feel has got a little bit more developing to do.

"I think he's a good player and someone I will keep my eye on, but I don't think he's someone Harry Redknapp wants to loan at the minute as he's a bit short himself.

"It's the same situation with Martin Cranie."
