Inverness Caledonian Thistle are close to finalising a season-long loan deal for Stoke City striker Adam Rooney.

The youngster has been training with Inverness in recent weeks and has shown enough to be offered a move to the SPL.

Director of football Graeme Bennett is trying to tie up the transfer and Caley Thistle boss Craig Brewster expects Rooney to be signed imminently.

"It is looking good at the moment and we are trying to finalise negotiations with Stoke City," Brewster told the Press and Journal.

"Graeme Bennett is talking to them."

Trialist decisions

However, Brewster has confirmed he is unlikely to be following up his interest in Dutch trialist Kiran Bechan, who plays for Hercules in Spain.

He added: "Bechan has gone. He is technically very good, but I would need to see him in a game before making any decision.

"We would need to get clearance from his club to do that and he won't be back on trial. His club is trying to offload him and it is very doubtful he will be coming back."

Brewster, however, is set to take a look at Ugandan international midfielder Dan Wagaluka in training next week.
