Scolari: Happy with win

Luiz Felipe Scolari was 'satisfied' to see Chelsea beat Portsmouth 4-0 in his first competitive match in charge.

The Brazilian replaced Avram Grant as manager at Stamford Bridge over the summer and enjoyed an impressive start to his tenure.

But, despite the comprehensive nature of the victory, Scolari still detected plenty of room for improvement from his team.

"I'm feeling satisfied and happy because my team played very well and we won the first game 4-0," Scolari told Sky Sports.

Lessons learned

"It's important that I see my team playing well on the field and I like to see three points.

"I learned some things in the second half that we need to be more patient and touch the ball more.

"We were sometimes expecting more goals, but when you are winning 3-0 you need to try to change the ball and to keep the ball more.

"For us, it's not all the time about trying to go for goal, but 4-0 is more important than the lessons I learned today."

Deco praise

Scolari also had praise for summer signing Deco, who capped a sparkling Chelsea debut with a venomous fourth goal for the Blues.

"He played very well," added Scolari, who is looking for one more signing before the close of the transfer window.

"As a team they played the same as the other players. If we play as a group we have a good team.

"Deco has different characteristics to Lampard, different characteristics to Ballack and it's important for us."
