Ashley Young has intimated he would like to follow Gabriel Agbonlahor and John Carew in signing a new contract with Aston Villa.

Striker Agbonlahor has put pen-to-paper on a new four-year deal while fellow forward Carew has signed a year's extension which will keep him at Villa until the end of the 2010/11 campaign.

Young still has nearly three seasons to run of the four-and-a-half-year deal he signed when moving to Villa from Watford for £8million in the January 2007 transfer window.

But Villa manager Martin O'Neill is keen to reward Young with a new contract for the performances which saw him break into the England squad last season.

Young said: "What about my own contract situation? I am just happy playing my football. But, if anything like that comes about, I'll be delighted.

Happy

"I've got this season and two more years left. I'm happy, really happy with how things are going, happy here at Aston Villa.

"I am just looking to build on the performances of last season during this season and I'm glad we got off to a good start at the weekend against Manchester City.

"Would I like to commit to a new contract? Of course. It is a fantastic club. I am delighted I'm playing here."
