David Healy has admitted he would be prepared to leave Fulham if the right offer came along.

The Northern Ireland international has been strongly linked with a move to Sunderland, and a swap deal with Dickson Etuhu is reportedly close to being struck.

The 29-year-old has struggled to make an impact at Craven Cottage since his arrival from Leeds last summer, and refused to rule out the possibility of another switch before the transfer window comes to a close on 31st August.

Opportunity

He said: "I'm not angling for a move but if the opportunity arose before the deadline and if something were to happen and Fulham give me the green light, then who knows?

"(Last season) wasn't good enough for myself. Anybody that doesn't play week in, week out is obviously going to be disappointed.

"But it's something as a footballer, as a striker, you become used to. Strikers are probably rotated more than anybody."

Potential

The former Manchester United trainee also admitted that the opportunity to join Sunderland would be too good to turn down.

"To be linked to a club the size of Sunderland - huge club, huge potential, with 40,000 watching them every week - it's obviously flattering," he told Sky Sports News.

"It's a challenge, I think playing for any of the North East sides is a challenge. Football's their life up there, be it Newcastle Sunderland, Middlesbrough.

"It's a huge club, which has spent a lot of money with a young chairman and a young manager - it's a club on the up."

Questions

Healy is desperate to silence the critics who continue to question his domestic performances.

His international goal scoring exploits have made him a national hero, but he admits that he is yet to replicate those performances at club level.

"It's always a question I can't answer - it probably gets asked about 12 times a year," he said.

"People say international level is a bit slower but I've scored against Liechtenstein and Malta, I've scored against England and Spain. There are all sorts of different defenders.

"It would be nice to put my finger on it and start scoring a few goals at club level, and maybe kill off the question."
