Bullard: Bolton interest

Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson has confirmed his interest in Fulham's Jimmy Bullard, but has yet to bid for the midfielder.

The 29-year-old has two years left to run on his current contract at Craven Cottage, but his future is in doubt after the club refused to open discussions over extending his deal.

Bullard's former club Wigan Athletic were linked with a move for his services earlier this summer, and now Bolton have expressed their desire to land the midfielder before the close of the transfer window.

"We, like a lot football clubs in the country, have got an interest in Jimmy," Megson said on Sky Sports News.

"I am not sure if he actually is available. You will have to ask Fulham that. We've got offers in for other players.

"There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes to try and bring in two good players. They have to be the right kind of people."

Bemused

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson, though, appears determined to hold onto Bullard while he confirmed Bolton have yet to approach the club with an offer.

"Neither myself nor [managing director] Alistair Mackintosh have recently been contacted about Jimmy Bullard," he said.

"The only club I know that have made any contact, at least with myself, was Wigan maybe five weeks ago.

"I find it strange that Jimmy is being linked with moves in the press when no clubs are making offers for him.

"It bothers me what's going on behind the scenes here because certainly we aren't receiving any bids.

"Jimmy has told me he's happy to get his head down and stay, so I don't understand what's going on."
