Santa Cruz: Staying at Rovers

Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz has ended doubts about his future by signing a new four-year contract.

Santa Cruz has been coveted by a string of rival Premier League clubs, with Manchester City having an offer turned down.

Arsenal, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with bids for the Paraguay international.

Rovers boss Paul Ince has insisted that Santa Cruz is not for sale and will be heartened by the player's commitment to the club.

The 27-year-old has accepted an extension to his contract which ties him to Ewood Park until 2012.

Santa Cruz has been a huge success for Blackburn since joining the club in a cut-price deal from Bayern Munich last summer.

He scored 23 goals last season and opened the new campaign with a goal in last Saturday's 3-2 win at Everton.
