Seedorf: Backing Shevchenko

AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf is confident Andriy Shevchenko will recapture his true form at the San Siro.

Chelsea striker Shevchenko will undergo a medical in Italy on Monday as he nears a return to his former club.

The Ukraine international has endured a difficult two years since signing at Stamford Bridge for £30million in the summer of 2006, scoring just nine goals in 47 Premier League appearances.

Shevchenko enjoyed a hugely successful seven-year spell at Milan before joining the Blues, and Seedorf, who played alongside the 31-year-old for four seasons, believes he will return to his world-beating best with the Italian giants.

Seedorf told Milan Channel: "Now Andriy will certainly be very motivated and he will have the desire to demonstrate that he is not that which we have seen in London and that he is a true footballer."

Kakha Kaladze, meanwhile, spent six campaigns with Shevchenko, including one at Dynamo Kiev, and has echoed Seedorf's backing for their former team-mate.

He added: "I am happy to be able to embrace Sheva once again. For us footballers it is not nice to not find yourself in form, now Andriy can return to form with us."
