Laursen: Confident fine

Martin Laursen does not believe confidence will be an issue for Aston Villa this week.

Although Martin O'Neill's side beat Manchester City in their Premier League season-opener, they were upset by new boys Stoke City on Saturday.

Laursen looked to have secured a point for Villa at The Britannia before a Mamady Sidibe header secured The Potters a famous top-flight success.

Villa entertain FH Hafnarfjordur on Thursday in the Uefa Cup before doing battle with Rafa Benitez's undefeated Liverpool on Sunday, live on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 1 HD.

Bounce back

"We always bounced back last season and we will try and do that again," Laursen told the club's official website.

"I can't promise that but our confidence is fine. It is not low, we are just sad not to have got at least a point from the weekend.

"But confidence is still okay. We played a very good game against Manchester City and we hope to win again on Thursday. We are just disappointed we came back twice against Stoke but lost the game.

"We have a big week coming up. We can go through in the Uefa Cup and then on Sunday there's a massive game at Villa Park."
