Manchester City manager Mark Hughes remains 'very hopeful' of securing the services of Chelsea's Shaun Wright-Phillips.

The Eastlands outfit have reportedly been keen on re-signing their former hero, along with David Moyes' Everton.

As Hughes is currently in Denmark preparing his troops to do battle with FC Midtjylland, he is - as yet - out of the loop with regards whether there have been any developments on the 26-year-old winger's future.

Although the transfer window closes in a matter of days, Hughes remains 'hopeful' City will be able to conclude a deal for the England international.

"I haven't had the opportunity to take any calls since we landed (in Denmark) so I'm sure there will be an update waiting for me," confirmed Hughes.

"We're obviously keen to bring him to the club if we can. If the opportunity presents itself we'll try to pursue it but we're not further down the road as yet.

"The situation before we flew was the same. It may have moved forward or it may have gone backwards but until I put the call in, I won't know.

"But it's a possibility. We're very hopeful."
