Kevin Davies has penned a new contract at Bolton, extending his stay at the club until 2011.

The new deal will take the veteran front man to eight years of loyal service at the Reebok Stadium, having joined the Trotters from Southampton in the summer of 2003.

His career was in danger of collapse on his arrival after suffering an ill-fated spell at Blackburn and an ill-advised return to the Saints, where he had previously shone.

However, he became an instant hero among the Bolton faithful after netting on his debut against former club Rovers.

In the five years since, Davies has racked up a total of 41 goals and won the club's Player of the Year last season following a typically hard-working campaign.

The 31-year-old joins fellow Trotters stalwarts Jussi Jaaskelainen and Ricardo Gardner in committing his long-term future to the club this summer.
