Castillo: Season-long loan

Everton have completed the signing of Ecuador midfielder Segundo Castillo.

Castillo has agreed a season-long loan deal at Goodison Park from Red Star Belgrade.

The 26-year-old passed a medical at Everton on Thursday and he has received a work permit.

Castillo had a trial at Blackburn earlier this summer and he is believed to have impressed at Ewood Park, but the deal fell through after both parties could not agree a deal.

Everton boss David Moyes has moved in to lure Castillo to Merseyside as he looks to bolster his midfield options following the departure of Lee Carsley.

Castillo is Everton's second signing of the summer following the recent capture of defender Lars Jacobsen.

"I know that Everton are a big club who have a history of playing in important competitions like the Uefa Cup," Castillo told the club's official website.

"I hope I can do my best for the team."
