Santa Cruz: Suffered injury

Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz hopes to bounce back quickly from an Achilles injury he sustained at the weekend.

The hot-shot had to be replaced after just 28 minutes of Rovers' 4-1 defeat at West Ham because of the problem.

But he believes the injury is "less significant" than one he sustained previously and hopes he can play for Paraguay in Saturday's World Cup qualifying clash against Argentina.

His comments come after he was assessed by Paraguay's medical team following his arrival in Asuncion.

Feel good

He said: "I feel good. This injury is less significant than another one I had in the past.

"I want to play on Saturday. If not, I will let another player take my place. We have other good forwards."

Paraguay team doctor Manuel Aguilar added: "If we can use him in the second half it would be a boost."
